Microsoft has suggested that their new next generation console would be a great addition to small businesses. They argue that their console would be a better replacement for a computer with a webcam because people would be able to easily connect the Xbox to their conference room TV’s and would have a high quality webcam right out of the box. Moreover, they also suggest that their console would be great for showing videos, pictures, and documents via their SkyDrive and Office Web applications.
In my opinion, this would only be a good option for those companies who don’t do much presenting during conference calls or meetings. Microsoft has forgotten that the Xbox One isn’t a real multitasking computer but rather only a multimedia center and any multitasking would either be extremely limited or finicky at best.
Could you imagine trying to flip between applications on your Xbox One during a meeting? Yeah, neither can I. Sure it could be useful as a simple video conference computer since it comes with a nice Kinect peripheral. But other than that, everything just falls short here… anything you can do with an Xbox One can be done better with a PC at an equivalent price (that is, in terms of presentations and meetings).
